Cylindrical roller bearings are known for their high rotational precision, accurate fit, and ability to handle primary radial loads. In recent years, this type of bearing has become one of the leading products in the large-scale bearing division of Luozhou Group Company. Its output value accounts for approximately one-third of the division's total production. To address the issues and improve efficiency, several optimization strategies have been implemented.
The improvement plan focused on optimizing the original "32672" bearing process. Key methods include:
1. **Heat Treatment Optimization**: To avoid residual stress and deformation caused by quenching, close cooperation with the heat treatment plant was established. Adjustments were made to the raceway retention based on the shortening data provided by the plant, ensuring sufficient grinding allowance after quenching.
2. **Additional Tempering Process**: A new tempering step was added after final grinding to eliminate internal stresses and stabilize the raceway dimensions.
3. **Machine Tool Upgrade**: The old machine tools were overhauled to improve spindle accuracy. Feed control and surface finish of the raceway were enhanced to prevent over-grinding.
4. **Process Layout Adjustment**: By aligning with production schedules, the layout was changed to focus on the inner raceway, which is most affected by shortening. Proper undercutting of the cage and adjustment of the middle diameter helped maintain the matching rate.
5. **Standardization of Dimensions**: Ensuring uniform scale across batches reduced variation between components, significantly improving the matching qualification rate.
As a result of these improvements, the matching rate of the "32672" cylindrical roller bearing increased from 60% to over 96%, reducing repair rates and saving both time and costs.
Common issues with the "32672" bearing include uneven quenching, non-uniform material composition, and residual stress. These factors can cause instability in the raceway scale, making it difficult to meet the required tolerances. Additionally, aging machine tools contribute to poor spindle rotation accuracy, leading to excessive rough grinding and inconsistent final dimensions.
By focusing on the "32672" bearing, which has the highest annual output, the company aims to apply similar optimization techniques to other types of cylindrical roller bearings. This will help achieve greater economic benefits and improve overall production efficiency.
