On March 21, 2014, the B2-K1018 “Double Grinding Wheel Follower CNC Crankshaft Grinder,†developed and manufactured by Beijing No. 2 Machine Tool Works Co., Ltd., successfully passed the user acceptance test at Zhejiang Sun Co., Ltd. This milestone marked a significant achievement in China's domestic machine tool industry.
The B2-K1018 is a high-precision CNC crankshaft grinding machine designed for the finishing of engine crankshaft main journals and connecting rod journals. It was developed under key national projects such as the 863 Program and the "High-Grade CNC Machine Tools and Basic Manufacturing Equipment" technology major project. The machine incorporates advanced technologies including dual grinding wheel frame synchronization, CBN high-speed grinding, and C-axis headstock synchronous driving, making it highly efficient, accurate, and flexible.
Equipped with on-line measurement and error compensation systems, the machine ensures consistent quality and reliability. It also features comprehensive safety functions such as interlocking, fault alarms, and automatic diagnosis, enhancing both performance and user confidence.
During the trial phase, the machine was used to process crankshafts from SAIC, BAIC, Geely, and other automotive manufacturers, helping to refine the grinding process and improve product reliability. In October 2012, the B2-K1018 was officially integrated into Zhejiang Sun Co., Ltd.'s crankshaft production line, where it has been successfully producing high-quality crankshaft components for car engines.
After long-term testing on the production line, the machine’s precision and efficiency met and even exceeded the expectations of the users. Some performance metrics outperformed imported equipment, proving the machine's competitive edge.
By being deployed in domestic crankshaft production lines, the B2-K1018 represents a major step forward for Beijing No. 2 Machine Tool Works Co., Ltd. It now provides full-scale equipment for the critical process of crankshaft finishing, fulfilling the goal of complete line coverage. As the only Chinese manufacturer capable of supplying a full production line for this application, the company has solidified its position in the industry.
