Ceramic Filter Press: Maintenance and Safety Precautions 
Proper maintenance and careful operation are essential for the efficient and safe functioning of a ceramic filter press, especially when handling rare earth filters. Before starting the machine, it is important to conduct a full inspection at the beginning of each shift. Ensure that all mechanical transmission components and the gear reducer are properly lubricated with oil. Check the hydraulic system’s oil level and working pressure, as these are crucial for smooth operation. It is recommended to replace the hydraulic oil annually and clean the entire system during replacement to avoid contamination.
The working pressure should always remain below the maximum allowable pressure of the cylinder but not fall below the minimum required filtration pressure. If the pressure is too low, it can lead to significant leakage and potential damage to the machine. Additionally, never operate the filter press if the number of filter plates is less than the specified amount, as this could cause serious mechanical issues. Always check the arrangement of the filter plates before feeding material into the system. Make sure the filter cloth is not folded or wrinkled, as this can also lead to leakage. After unloading the cake, ensure that the filter plates are tightly packed and aligned correctly.
During operation, the filtration pressure and temperature must be maintained within the recommended range. Excessive pressure may cause leaks, while high temperatures can lead to deformation of plastic filter plates. The slurry concentration should be uniform, without any mixed materials. After unloading, thoroughly rinse the filter cloth and filter plates to prevent residue from sticking to the sealing surfaces or feeding channels. This ensures proper feed flow and maintains the seal integrity of the filter plates, preventing uneven pressure distribution that could damage the equipment.
When selecting the filter cloth, it must meet the technical specifications of the filter press. New filter cloths should be pre-shrunk before use, and the diameter of the opening should be slightly smaller than the hole in the filter plate. When installing, make sure the holes align concentrically with the filter plate. The cloth should fit snugly against the tube wall; otherwise, it may result in unclear filtration, reduced efficiency, or even tearing of the cloth, which would compromise the overall filtration performance.
