Abstract On August 22, 2013, the China (Zhengzhou) Automobile and Parts Industry Transfer Docking Event took place in Zhengzhou, with Vice Governor Zhang Weining in attendance. In recent years, the province has significantly accelerated its industrial transfer efforts. Major domestic and international enterprises such as Dongfeng Motor, Haima Automobile, and Nissan have further intensified their cooperation with local automobile companies through joint ventures and mergers, driving rapid and stable growth in the automotive sector.
The event marked an important step in fostering collaboration between industry leaders and regional stakeholders. With a focus on promoting industrial upgrading and optimizing production layouts, the docking event aimed to facilitate smoother technology and capital transfers.
According to statistics, by the end of 2012, the province was home to nearly 1,000 large-scale automobile and parts manufacturing enterprises. Several key players in the industry are experiencing strong growth. Zhengzhou Yutong Group stands as the world's largest passenger vehicle production base, while Henan Shaolin Automobile Co., Ltd. is renowned as the "CMB King" in the domestic market. Additionally, a number of leading auto parts companies, including six listed firms such as Fengshen Tire, Zhongyuan Inner Distribution, and Far East Transmission, have played a crucial role in supporting the development of the broader automotive industry.
As a result, the automobile and parts industry in the province has begun to form a concentrated cluster development model. An initial industrial structure has been established, featuring the Zhengzhou million-car base, special-purpose vehicle production centers, and a network of six key auto parts bases within one park. This strategic layout reflects the province’s growing influence in the national automotive supply chain.
Following the initial docking event, a total of 40 projects were signed, with a contracted amount reaching 34 billion yuan. Of this, 22.9 billion yuan came from outside the province, and several investment projects reached preliminary cooperation agreements. These developments signal a promising future for the automotive industry in the region, driven by both domestic and foreign investments.
