Do you really choose plastic steel doors and windows?

Plastic steel doors and windows are quickly taking the place of traditional steel and aluminum windows, thanks to their superior performance and modern aesthetics. As a result, they are becoming a popular choice in home decoration. However, in China, plastic steel windows are still considered a relatively new building material, and many people are not yet fully familiar with them. So, how can you tell the difference between high-quality and low-quality plastic steel doors and windows? First, pay attention to the UPVC profiles used in the construction. These profiles are crucial in determining the quality and overall grade of the product. Many people assume that all plastic steel windows look the same, but this is far from the truth. High-quality UPVC profiles are designed with multiple cavities, proper wall thickness, and include additives for UV resistance and anti-aging properties. Visually, they should have a smooth, even surface with a white or light blue color—this indicates good aging resistance. Such windows can withstand years of exposure to wind and sunlight without discoloring, warping, or deforming. On the other hand, lower-quality profiles tend to be more yellowish and lack UV protection. Over time, they may turn darker, crack, or deform due to excessive calcium content in the formula. It's a good idea to ask the manufacturer to show different profile samples and compare them directly. Next, examine the glass and hardware used. The glass should be flat, clean, and securely installed without direct contact with the plastic frame. A sealing strip should be used to fill any gaps, and no glue should be visible. In double-glazed units, there should be no dust or moisture between the panes. High-end doors and windows come with complete, well-positioned hardware made from metal. These components affect both the durability and appearance of the window. Lower-quality models often use plastic hardware, which can lead to long-term issues such as wear and tear or poor functionality. Another important factor is the assembly quality. The door and window surfaces should be smooth and free of weld breaks. Steel reinforcement should be embedded in the frame and sash profiles for added strength. The sealing strips must be flat, not curled or damaged, and should be odorless. The entire unit should be seamless, with no visible screws. When opening and closing, the mechanism should be smooth, tight, and free of noise. There should be no gap when closed, and the sliding action should be fluid and quiet. It’s also essential to purchase plastic steel doors and windows from reputable manufacturers who use professional equipment and hold a valid production license issued by the construction authority. Avoid cheap options from street workshops, as their quality and reliability cannot be guaranteed. Finally, always take the time to shop around and compare different options. If possible, visit the factory to see the products in person. However, don’t just go by price alone—plastic steel windows vary greatly in quality depending on the profile type, processing level, installation, and after-sales service. Even with the same profile, differences in hardware, steel reinforcement, and craftsmanship can significantly impact the final product. So, make sure to consider all factors before making a decision.
