Abstract Introduction: Despite significant progress, China's CNC machine tool industry still faces several challenges that hinder its overall development. If these technical issues remain unresolved, the cost and pricing of domestically produced CNC machines will not decrease, and the accuracy, reliability, and technological sophistication of the products will not improve. To address this, Chinese manufacturers must prioritize and aggressively pursue technological innovation. Guide: China’s CNC machine tools still face critical challenges that limit the growth of the industry. Without solving these technical problems, the cost and price of domestic CNC machines will not fall, and their precision, reliability, and technological advancement will not increase. Therefore, it is essential for domestic CNC machine tools to actively implement technological innovation. In recent years, the import of machine tool components has been on a steady rise, indicating that domestic parts are not yet capable of meeting the demands of the host industry. Although the market share of domestically produced CNC machines has increased significantly, the share of high-end CNC systems and core functional components remains very low in the domestic market. Foreign companies currently hold about 85% of the high-end CNC machine tools market in China. In response, companies must accelerate R&D efforts and master the core technologies of high-end CNC systems and key components. To enhance industrialization levels, enterprises need not only advanced production capabilities but also sufficient manufacturing capacity. "The situation where most of China’s CNC machine tools depend on imports has not changed," said Wu Bolin. While some domestic products are available, their production capacity is limited, and the use of imported CNC systems and components leads to higher product prices, reducing competitiveness. Compared to the advanced development of the entire machine, China's numerical control systems and key components still lag behind. If these deep-seated technical issues are not addressed, the cost and price of domestic CNC machines will not decrease, and the accuracy, reliability, and technological level of the products will not improve. At this stage, the key tasks for CNC machine tool companies include accelerating the transformation of economic development models, vigorously implementing technological innovation, promoting product structure optimization, speeding up R&D, mastering several core technologies of high-end CNC systems and key components, and continuously driving innovation. This will help improve the company's overall performance and enhance the accuracy and reliability of their products. By focusing on these areas, the industry can move closer to self-reliance and global competitiveness.
