Life is all about learning. If you can learn to be "lazy" in the right way, it might actually make life more enjoyable. These life tips are designed to help you live smarter and more efficiently.

Place your bed against an interior wall

Most homes have exterior and interior walls. The exterior walls are exposed to the outside, which means they tend to be more humid, experience greater temperature fluctuations, and can be noisier at night. Placing your bed against an exterior wall may lead to discomfort, frequent waking, and even colds, which isn't ideal for your health.

Interior walls, on the other hand, are more stable in terms of temperature and humidity. It's better to place your bed against an interior wall (but not directly against a corner) to reduce disturbances during sleep and lower the risk of illness.

How to prevent insects from damaging bamboo furniture

Bamboo furniture is known for being warm in winter and cool in summer. However, because bamboo contains cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin, and other nutrients, it can attract pests like termites and aphids. To protect your bamboo furniture and extend its lifespan, take the following steps:

1. When purchasing bamboo furniture, choose pieces that are finished with varnish or treated with tung oil. These options are not only durable but also resistant to mites. For smaller bamboo items, consider using high-temperature steam treatment to kill bacteria, or soak them in salted boiling water for 1–2 days to prevent insect infestation.

2. Store bamboo products in dry and well-ventilated areas. Avoid keeping them in damp or dark places, as this can encourage mold growth. For larger items like cabinets or bookshelves, clean the gaps regularly and rinse them with water if needed. Unused bamboo items should be washed, dried, and stored properly in a dry location.

3. Regularly clean and dry frequently used bamboo items such as baskets, rice containers, and other utensils. For large bamboo furniture, ensure proper ventilation and drying to maintain their quality over time.

In addition, if you notice any signs of insects, you can use a sharp pepper or chili paste to plug the holes, which helps eliminate mites and their eggs, protecting your furniture from further damage.

With proper care, bamboo furniture can last for many years. (Jiang Dahong) [ Follow the WeChat public account "Jiuzheng Furniture Network"; stay informed, scan the code to unlock business opportunities ]
