Three ways to decorate the wall with marble

Using marble to decorate walls can create a luxurious and elegant atmosphere, but it's important to choose the right installation method. If not done properly, the weight of the stone can cause the adhesive to fail, leading to potential safety hazards. There are three common techniques for installing marble on walls:

The first is dry hanging. This method involves securing bolts into the wall first, then cutting grooves in the stone and attaching it to a T-shaped frame. The frame is then connected to the bolts, creating a gap between the stone and the wall. This provides a stable and secure fix, making it ideal for bathrooms with enough space.

The second method is wet bonding. It starts by applying a layer of steel mesh to the wall, followed by a layer of mortar or concrete. This technique offers strong adhesion, though it's more labor-intensive compared to other methods.

The third option is direct pasting, which comes in two forms: point bonding and full coverage. Full coverage is suitable for thin marble slabs (under 8mm thick), similar in weight to ceramic tiles. These can be applied using special stone adhesive. Point bonding uses specific glue applied in dots, spaced no more than 25cm apart, with each dot at least 3-4cm in size and a thickness of over 0.5cm. This method works well for slightly thicker stones. However, direct pasting is generally not recommended for bathrooms due to the risk of moisture and structural movement, which can cause the adhesive to deteriorate over time and lead to accidents.
