BASF, short for Badische Anilin- und Sodafabrik, is one of the largest chemical companies in Germany. At the 2013 European Coatings Show (ECS) in Nuremberg, the company will present a wide range of products and services to industry professionals. During the event, experts from BASF and BTC (Berf European Distribution) will be on-site to share the latest developments in resins, additives, dispersions, pigments, pigment preparations, specialty monomers, and vinyl monomers. Ralf Spettmann, head of BASF’s European operations for pigments and resins, emphasized: “Our combined expertise allows us to provide customers with maximum support throughout the formulation and production process.” BASF supplies paint raw materials globally, covering construction coatings, industrial coatings, automotive coatings, furniture finishes, and floor coatings. Christoph Hansen, head of BASF’s European adhesive and dispersion business, added, “We are excited to engage with our customers at this exhibition and will showcase several new products designed to address current market demands.” **Trend-setting Innovation** One standout product is Sicopal® Yellow EH 1567 (L 1130), an innovative yttrium vanadate pigment. With high color concentration, excellent opacity, and strong outdoor durability, it is ideal for decorative, industrial, and automotive coatings. This lead-free pigment is particularly favored by customers seeking vibrant color and long-lasting performance. Paint manufacturers are always on the lookout for dispersants that deliver top performance. The new Dispex® Ultra PX 4575 is a premium solution offering excellent color development and low viscosity. It helps reduce pigment usage while increasing pigment loading, making it an efficient choice. This product also meets the European eco-label standards for indoor and outdoor coatings. **High-quality Paint Raw Materials** Another notable product is Acronal® Edge 6295, a high-performance adhesive used in exterior paints. It offers excellent color retention, water resistance, and durability, making it a top choice for architectural coatings. **Fast Drying Solutions** A recent innovation is the Solyfast™ catalyst, designed for two-component polyurethane coating systems. This tin-free catalyst accelerates drying times and improves coating longevity. BASF has also introduced new light stabilizers, including Tinuvin® 5533-DW, the first product combining high-performance UV absorbers with non-interacting hindered amine light stabilizers (HALS) for water-based coatings. This versatile product is suitable for glass, plastic, and various industrial applications. At the 2013 ECS, BASF continues to demonstrate its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and customer support in the global coatings industry.
