Yesterday, the reporter investigated a number of large supermarkets in Guangzhou, such as AEON, PARKnSHOP, and Hutchison, and found that in the sale of cooking oil, soybean oil used 100% of genetically modified raw materials, while peanut oil was 100% non-genetically modified.

In the supermarket edible oil shelf, there are several types of peanut oil, corn oil, rapeseed oil, sunflower oil, olive oil, soybean oil, blended oil, etc., of which peanut oil is the most occupied shelf position, soybean oil is the least.

In the survey, all brands of soybean oil were marked with genetically modified raw materials. Only rapeseed oil was called non-genetically modified, and the blended soybean oil and rapeseed oil used in the blending basically used genetically modified soybeans and rapeseed. For example, Jinlongyu's soybean oil and blend oil are marked with genetically modified products.

With the exception of soybean oil, rapeseed oil and blend oil, all other types of oil are marked with non-genetically modified products. For example, Arowana sunflower oil, peanut oil and corn oil are marked as non-genetically modified products.

Sales: blending oil, peanut oil is the mainstream

“Soybean oil has up to 5% of edible oil sales in our supermarkets.” According to a reporter from the relevant person in charge of a large supermarket in Guangzhou, soybean oil is not sold in the mainstream, while the sales of blended oil and peanut oil account for about 40%. In another high-end supermarket in Guangzhou, the reporter learned that soybean oil accounted for 1% of sales, while peanut oil accounted for 60% of edible oil sales.

In terms of prices, the price of genetically modified products is significantly more than half that of non-transgenic plants. For example, the price of a five-liter bottle of genetically modified soybean oil at the PARKnSHOP supermarket is 49.9 yuan, and 2.5 tons of non-genetically modified peanut oil will cost 72.9 yuan. In good and many, the prices of several varieties of genetically modified soybean oil are all less than 50 yuan in 5 liters: Wuhu 5 liters for 48.9 yuan, Zhongding 5 liters for 38.9 yuan, and non-genetically modified peanut oil for 5 liters 100 yuan, such as Lu spent 5 liters loaded 144.5 yuan, Fu Linmen 4 liters installed 110 yuan.

Citizen: How much is not assured

For genetically modified products, most of the people surveyed said they still did not trust. “I will buy oil now to see if there are non-genetically modified signs. After all, whether these genetically modified products are safe is not conclusive.” Miss Zheng, a citizen, told reporters.

Some citizens also believe that the price of genetically modified products is indeed cost-effective, but it will not eat a product for a long time and it will change the consumption of various products. “We hope that the country will not blindly introduce genetically modified crops.
