In the process of producing six-structured product cylinder parts, specifically when machining the cylinder plunger hole (see the attached figure), we encountered the problem of short tool life and communicated with foreign famous brand suppliers. The problem has not been properly resolved. Directly affect the cost of parts processing.

The material of the part is 45# high-quality carbon structural steel, and the material state is in a normal state. The machine tool for processing this part is the DMG five-axis machining center, and the process plan adopts the drilling, rough boring and fine boring processing solutions provided by the machine tool manufacturer. In the trial processing process, it was found that the fine tool life was seriously insufficient in the fine boring step. After the processing parameters were modified, there was still no obvious improvement, and the predetermined part processing tempo could not be guaranteed. After the negotiation, the machining process was modified and the process became drilling, rough boring, fine boring and reaming. This is expected to appropriately reduce the impact of fine tool wear on the final part process size. Although the test has improved, it still cannot meet the requirements. At present, the problem has still not been properly resolved.

As a part material, 45# high-quality carbon structural steel under normalizing conditions should have good machinability, and such problems should not occur.

If this problem cannot be solved in time, it will have an adverse impact on the company's production activities. I hope that the powerful tool suppliers will give great help.
